Husband and wife Chaka and Qi Dada are Austin's own beloved hip-hop group RAS — Riders Against The Storm — and they caught up with Texas Chapter at Austin City Limits 2014. Their underground following brings a new twist to the phrase "urban" music because they have promoted local rap culture at civic events, been recognized with major local awards, and are frequently reported on by the Austin American-Statesman. "There's nothing but growth in Austin," said Qi Dada, "that's for sure." The couple just finished organizing the city's first hop-hop festival where Qi Dada points out they took the "ceremony" part of beings MCs — masters of ceremony — "real seriously" by creating a memorable "dance party." "It just has ripple effects into the Austin community," says Chaka about what their audience takes away from their musical events.
