"I wouldn't be here without Carole King," Jessie Mueller told the Recording Academy on the night of the 2019 GRAMMY Salute To Music Legends. "And Carole King wouldn't be here without Lou Adler."

The GRAMMY-winning actress and singer, who took part in a musical about King's life as a singer on Broadway five years ago, paid tribute to the GRAMMY-winning producer by singing two songs he produced for King: "I Feel The Earth Move" and "It's Too Late."

Adler, one of the night's Trustees Award honorees, not only signed King, but helped develop her career as a solo artist. He also worked with the Mamas & the Papas, Jan & Dean and more.

"It's a beautiful thing for me to be out here tonight, it really is," Mueller said about being apart of the special night.

Other Trustee Award honorees were Nickolas Ashford & Valerie Simpson, and Johnny Mandel. The Recording Academy’s also paid tribute to Black Sabbath, George Clinton & Parliament-Funkadelic, Billy EckstineDonny Hathaway, Julio IglesiasSam & Dave and Dionne Warwick.
