Four-time GRAMMY-winning engineer Leslie Ann Jones is one of the most celebrated and respected studio professionals in her field. And even with a quartet of tropies to her name, she's not done yet... Jones is up for Best Engineered Album, Classic at this Sunday's 62nd GRAMMY Awards for her work on Kronos Quartet's Riley: Sun Rings.
In the latest episode of Where Do You Keep Your GRAMMY?, Jones shows three of her prized posessions on display at home in Oakland, Calif., and reveals the fourth resides at Skywalker Sound, where Jones serves as Director of Music Recording and Scoring, and where the project was recorded.
"These awards, to me, are extreamly meaningful because of the artistry they represent," Jones said of her four GRAMMY wins.
She also takes us through her journey from being born into the music business to playing and recording with bands to getting started as an engineer.
"I was in an all-female rock band, and I bought the sound system for the band, and then when the band broke up, I had the sound system, so I started working with other bands, doing their sound," Jones said. "I started mixing sound and I really enjoyed it."
