Original Wu-Tang Clan member Lamont "U-God" Hawkins has taken pen to paper to tell his side of Wu-Tang's storied rise to prominence.

Hawkins' memoir, titled RAW: My Journey Into the Wu-Tang Clan, is due out in March 2018. As an original member, Hawkins was featured on each of the group's albums through 2014. His book will not only cover his time in the Wu-Tang Clan as the nine-member collective rose to fame, but it will also detail his childhood.

"It's time to write down not only my legacy, but the story of nine dirt-bomb street thugs who took our everyday life — scrappin' and hustlin' and tryin' to survive in the urban jungle of New York City — and turned that into something bigger than what we could possibly imagine," Hawkins said. "Something that took us out of the projects for good, which was the only thing we all wanted in the first place."
