Biography

"Everyone has their own talents. It's up to the individual to see what you can actually do." — Win Butler

  • Members: Win Butler, Will Butler, Régine Chassagne, Jeremy Gara, Tim Kingsbury, Richard Reed Parry
  • Formed 2001 in Montreal, Quebec
  • Arcade Fire's first album, Funeral, brought them critical recognition and commercial success. The album charted on the Billboard 200 and appeared on many year-end critic's lists. The album's singles, such as "Rebellion (Lies)," helped build the band a strong following.
  • The Suburbs won Arcade Fire their first career GRAMMY win for Album Of The Year for 2010. The band celebrated its victory by making their GRAMMY stage debut at the 53rd GRAMMY Awards in 2011 with "Month Of May" and "Ready To Start."
  • In college, Will Butler had to obtain permission to skip class so the band could perform on "Late Night With Conan O'Brien." He later gave his professor a copy of Rolling Stone to prove the story.
  • Arcade Fire donate $1 from every concert ticket sold to Plus One, an organization the band founded to support Haiti. The initiative has raised more than $2 million.
