"When you've seen beyond yourself, then you may find, peace of mind is waiting there."
- Born on Feb. 24, 1943, in Liverpool, England. Died on Nov. 29, 2001, in Beverly Hills, California.
- Following the massive success of the Beatles, Harrison's solo career took off with his 1970 triple album, All Things Must Pass, which spent seven weeks at No. 1. The album featured the hits "My Sweet Lord" (No. 1) and "What Is Life" (No. 10).
- Harrison won his first GRAMMY after leaving the Beatles at the 15th GRAMMY Awards for Album Of The Year for The Concert For Bangla Desh. The year prior, Harrison performed "My Sweet Lord" on the 14th GRAMMY Awards telecast.
- All Things Must Pass was inducted into the GRAMMY Hall Of Fame in 2014. The Beatles were honored with a Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014; Harrison received the same award as an individual in 2015.
- In 2012 the GRAMMY Museum at L.A. Live hosted George Harrison: Living In The Material World. The first major exhibit to explore his life and career, it featured a collection of diverse artifacts, rare photographs and footage, including dozens of items from the private collection of the Harrison Estate.
- Organized by Harrison and fellow GRAMMY winner Ravi Shankar, The Concert For Bangladesh raised international awareness and funded relief efforts for refugees from Bangladesh following the Bangladesh Liberation War-related genocide.
