The Latin Recording Academy today announced that it has teamed with Univision Music to release the 2005 Latin GRAMMY Nominees CD. This year's compilation — due in stores on Nov. 1 — encompasses some of the year's biggest hits and features nominated songs and artists from several categories. In addition, a portion of the proceeds will benefit international development and educational programs of The Latin Recording Academy.
Each of the 20 tracks on the collection represents 6th Annual Latin GRAMMY-nominated music from artists who have made an impact over the year, including nominees in the categories of Album Of The Year, Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year, Best Male Pop Vocal Album, Best Urban Music Album, Best Ranchero Album, and Best Norteño Album. The album will be released in Mexico, Puerto Rico and the United States.
"The eclectic mix of tracks contained on this compilation provides a great sample of the work created by our extremely talented nominees," said Latin Recording Academy President Gabriel Abaroa. "Our thanks go to Univision Music for their partnership and collaboration on this project and to all the labels and publishers that allowed us to put this great album together, which not only underscores the excellence in musical talent we honor this year, but also provides much needed support for the important work our Academy does year-round.
"Univision Records is extremely proud and honored to be participating in the release of the 2005 Latin GRAMMY Nominees CD," said Univision Music Group Executive VP and CFO Dave Palacio. "We are looking forward to executing the marketing, promotion and sales campaigns for this quality recording and believe that it will be a tremendous success. The fact that the Univision Television Network will be airing and promoting the Awards show this year will enhance the visibility of the artists on the Latin GRAMMY album."
The 6th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards will feature 43 categories, and the three-hour show will be broadcast by the Univision Network at 8 p.m./7c, supported on radio via Univision Radio (the official Spanish-language radio network of the Latin GRAMMY Awards), and highlighted on the Internet by Univision Online (the official online partner of the Latin GRAMMY Awards) at www.latingrammy.univision.com.
