International artists contribute richly to our nation, both culturally and economically, but the visa process that foreign artists must navigate to perform in the U.S. has become unpredictable and expensive, with a particularly adverse effect on the non-profit arts community.
The ARTS Act (S. 2510) is a welcome step toward fixing a broken system. This bipartisan legislation will ensure that visas for artists sponsored by non-profit organizations are processed on time and in accordance with the law, without incurring additional, unfair fees. The Recording Academy thanks Senators Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) and Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) for their steadfast support for music creators and for their leadership on this critical issue.
